MANAGEMENT COMPANY MLP SPONSORS THE CONFERENCE “THE FUTURE OF LOGISTICS IN RUSSIA”

On June 16, 2016 Management Company MLP became a sponsor of the international conference “The Future of Logistics in Russia: Effective Warehousing Solutions”.

The conference was held in Moscow and became one of the key events in a series of federal sectoral initiatives under the logo “The Future of Logistics” which encompasses 15 cities in Russia: Ekaterinburg, Novosibirsk, Vladivostok, Saint Petersburg, Nizhny Novgorod, Samara, Kazan, etc. The event, organized by Ekbpromo, brought together more than 100 owners, top-level managers and unit specialists from logistics, commercial and manufacturing companies.

“In the past we have sponsored similar events in Saint Petersburg and Ekaterinburg. We decided to support this sectoral conference in Moscow because we realize the relevance of such meetings for market participants. This forum allows them to share their experiences and achievements, to talk about their plans and project successes, as well as current market trends. This is especially important, given the present state of the market”, said Ilya Pronichkin, head of the leasing department at MLP Management Company.

According to Knight Frank consultancy, the numbers for Q1 2016 show that the Moscow region accounted for 77% of the demand for quality warehousing in Russia. The volume of Q1 transactions totaled 260,000 sq. meters (approximately 2.6 million sq. feet) which is a 60% increase over the same period of the previous year. However, the amount of space being brought on stream in Moscow decreased by 53%, totaling 129,100 sq. meters (roughly 1.29 million sq. feet). Such are the figures which were announced at the conference “The Future of Logistics in Russia” by Maxim Zagoruyko, an analyst and director representing the interests of Knight Frank corporate clients.

Alexander Perfiliev, partner and director of Warehouse and Industrial Property Management at ILM, Russia & CIS, furthered this discussion by elaborating on the development of logistics facilities in Moscow. He touched on the changing demands which regional warehouses are facing. In his opinion, the market is now seeing dozens of small, medium and large companies which want to rent, buy or build a warehouse facility. This applies not only to Moscow, but to other regions, as well. He highlighted the growing number of inquiries from manufacturers within Russia and also from abroad. As a rule, they want to combine their production and warehousing operations.

Other speakers at the Conference were: DENIS SUMELEV, executive director of IT Scan; VICTORIA GROBUSHKINA, head of the TSC branch office; VLADISLAV SANKIN, general director of FABS Logistic; SERGEY KARTAVYKH, executive director of First Logistik, and others.
