LENTA RELEASED OPERATIONAL RESULTS FOR THE 2ND QUARTER OF 2019

The Russian retail chain Lenta has released its operational results for the second quarter of 2019.

The retailer's revenue for the second quarter of 2019 increased by 0.4% as compared to the same period last year, to 100.2 billion rubles. Retail revenue increased by 4.7% to 97.8 billion rubles, while wholesale decreased by 62.4%.

Comparable sales to the company rose by 0.8% (excluding VAT) amid growing traffic (up 0.6%), and the average check rose by 0.2%. During the quarter, the retailer opened two hypermarkets and one supermarket, bringing the total number of stores to 377 (246 hypermarkets, 131 supermarkets). Their total sales area is 1,472,937 sq. m.

In the first half of the year, Lenta's revenue grew by 3.1%, to 199.2 billion rubles. Comparable sales for the same period increased by 2.9% (excluding VAT) amid a 2.1% increase in traffic and an average check increase of 0.7%.

The number of active Lenta loyalty card holders grew by 13.5% year-on-year and reached 15.2 million people. Around 97% of all purchases in the second quarter were conducted with loyalty cards.
