Adidas Increased Online Sales by 40% Thanks to Instagram Purchases

Growth was also driven by new product launches and the growing popularity of the brand’s application.

Online sales for Adidas sportswear rose 40% in the first quarter of 2019, Digiday reports. The main reason for the growth was testing the purchasing function on Instagram, Adidas CEO Kasper Rorsted reported.

In addition, an increase in online sales is associated with releases of new Adidas products and the launch of its own application. According to the company, the app was downloaded more than 9 million times in 27 different countries.

Today, Adidas is not the only brand that is testing Instagram shopping. The testing phase involves more than 20 global companies and brands, including Nike, H&M, Dior, Uniqlo, and Zara.

Instagram announced the launch of in-app sales in March of this year. To make a purchase, users need to fill out information about payment methods, after which the function “Checkout on Instagram” will become available.
