X5 OPENED AN EXPERIMENTAL PEREKRESTOK STORE

An experimental large-format Perekrestok store was opened at the Karusel hypermarket in St. Petersburg.

On April 3, 2019 X5 Retail Group has opened the first large-scale experimental Perekrestok supermarket in St. Petersburg, reported Vedomosti with a reference to the company's statement. The new store’s area is a record 3,000 square meters with an assortment of 21,000 unique products. The supermarket is located at 32 prospekt Bolshevikov, Bulk 1. Simultaneously with the opening in St. Petersburg, another large-format Perekrestok began operations in Stary Oskol in the Belgorod Region. The average area of Perekrestok shops is 1028 sq.m., with an average assortment of 8,000 to 15,000 items. The large supermarket has opened on the site of the Karusel hypermarket.

Let us recall that it was previously reported that the retailer is planning on transforming three Karusel hypermarkets to large Perekrestok supermarkets. The large new Perekrestok will have a video-monitoring system for the lines at 29 registers. Most of the goods will be equipped with electronic price tags, thanks to which the consumer will be able to order products from the online store and pick up the finished order in the new supermarket. At the end of 2018, the revenue for the Perekrestok chain increased by 23.5% and amounted to 230.8 billion rubles. The total revenue for X5 Group in 2018 increased by 18.3% to 1.533 trillion rubles. At the end of December, the supermarket chain united 760 stores.
