X5 RETAIL GROUP AND MAGNIT IN THE TOP-10 LARGEST RUSSIAN COMPANIES ACCORDING TO RBK

The RBK 500 rating, which ranks the largest companies in terms of revenue, has been published.

The top ten companies included four oil and gas companies (Gazprom, LUKOIL, Rosneft, and Surgutneftegas), two banks (Sberbank and VTB), Russian Railways, Rosseti, and two retailers — X5 Retail Group and Magnit.

X5 Retail Group took seventh place in the ranking, with 2017 revenue at 1.295 trillion rubles and net profit of 31 billion rubles. In one year, the company has gone up one place.

Magnit, meanwhile, lost two spots in one year and is now at ninth place. The company's revenue amounted to 1.143 trillion rubles, with net profit of 36 billion rubles.

Seven other retailers made it into the first one hundred: Lenta (31st place, revenue 365 billion rubles), Dixy (45th place, 283 billion rubles), Krasnoe i Beloe (60th place, 210 billion rubles), M.Video (62nd place, 198 billion rubles), DNS (63rd place, 198 billion rubles), O'Key (66th place, 177 billion rubles), as well as the merged company Svyaznoy and Euroset (81st place, 158 billion rubles).

All together, 53 retailers made it into the ranking’s top 500. Moreover, 21 more retail companies with sufficient revenue to be included in the rating were included without an assigned number due to inconsistencies in the research methodology. (327th place), Hoff (429th place), Neo-Farm (453rd place), Snezhnaya Koroleva (Snow Queen, 475th place), and Familia (500th place).
