Online Stores Dramatically Increased Transactions with Warehouses in Moscow

In 2017, Russian and international online retailers have increased the share of transactions with warehouses in the capital and surrounding areas by 47 times.

For the first nine months of 2017, online retailers had a total of 263,100 sq. m. worth of transactions with warehouse real estate in the Moscow region, which is 47 times more than in 2016. This was discussed by Regional Director of the Department of Land and Industrial and Warehouse Real Estate, Knight Frank, Vladislav Ryabov, at Between West and East, the 12th annual warehouse conference. Last year, online retail companies completed transitions for purchasing or renting warehouse space for a total area of 5,600 sq. m., the expert clarified.

This year’s largest transactions were made by the internet retailer Utkonos, which acquired 71,000 sq. m. of warehouse space in the Logopark Sever Warehouse Complex, and online clothing store Wildberries, which signed a contract with the developer A Plus Development for constructing a distribution center with a total area of 145,000 sq. m. along the Simferopolskoye shosse. Several other internet operators rented smaller warehouse areas: Vse Instrumenti (20,600 sq. m.), Gala Center (23,000 sq. m.), and Ozon.ru (3,500 sq. m.).
